protecting assets

do you really think it is so far fetch that those who have a lot to lose and who truly believe an enemy is evil would not do anything to motivate people to rally around fighting that enemy?...

ever heard of the lesser of two evils?

matters of interpretation

speaking of biblical chapters and verses, did you ever consider 1 Corinthians 13:11 might have meant so say When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have lost the child. In other words, in accepting the concepts of being grown-up and taking responsibility, you lose the wonderfully clear perspective of innocence and simplicity that leads to truth that only children maintain...

it might suggest that everything we know is wrong and becoming a man means becoming the self-destructive suicidal ignorant fear-filled beings that any child can see we are... even accepting it as I have left the child behind seems all too accurate... but then, who wants to face that depressing thought?...

help

how often have you said...

"i am only trying to help"

when what you meant was...

"i am really trying to control"

and you never knew...

why the person you were trying to help went away...

does the chuckle offend?

what we have here is a failure to communuicate, or at least one video with seven comments, not to be confused with snow white and the seven dwarfs, at all... no offense intended, but i found this blog called out for the reproduction of the following facebook post composed of, as aforementioned, a video and commentary conversation of sorts that may not be art, but is certainly coy:

which lead to the following commentary, the last of which may be considered to be the epitomy of coy inquiry, hence, part of this blog:

1)
Lightning is an act of God..not sure whether making statues is and act of God:)

2)
May be she missed! :-D

3)
I watched it twice looking for the offensive parts and could not find them. What aspect of the video offended your Christian friends? Was it the chuckle in his voice when he described the destruction of an inanimate object? Was it the mention of Zeus?

4)
I don't see what would have been offensive about it, either, unless Christians are offended by unbelievers taking Christian superstitions at face value.

5)
Well, if I was a Christian, the chuckle in his voice when he described the destruction of an inanimate object would certainly offend me. And that's not just any inanimate object, that Jesus Christ! Moreover, Christians get offended for everything said that goes against their beliefs. So I'm just doing my best to be sensitive while making a point. :-)

6)
Most Christians I know would think that the "Touchdown Jesus" statue is ridiculous and would have been almost as ready to make fun of it as would any irreverent atheist

7)
everything explained based on presupposition of belief in the supernatural will be logical for those believing in that particular supernatural concept... so the burning of the rather large statue of jesus can easily be explained as a) god reminding christians about the old testament edict about no engraved images or physical idols, i mean, the purest interpretation is do not worship a man-made thing, even if it is a 66 foot jesus... on the other hand, forgetting the old testament, as many moderns do, the burning by lightning could be viewed as b) god's way of shaking up the flock, testing the faith, a world trade center wake up call to believers of sorts... of course from a secular view, one could test the adage about lightening never striking twice in the same spot by building another 66 foot jesus and waiting... with due respect to mr. beckett, godot might arrive before the next strike, or before the second coming, for that matter, but it would be something to do during the wait...

i would have liked this video to be produced without the chuckle, as a very serious question... perhaps some youtube afficianado might overdub the audio and therein not distract from the question, but then, that might lead to an array of answers c) d) e) and so on that i doubt i'd want to read... still, others might, so thanks for the thoughts...

i was watching a video the other day that was very seriously attesting that lightening attracted aliens to our planet to re-charge their space ships... i am waiting for the aliens to confirm, but godot might arrive before they do too...

of course there are those who don't believe in godot, again, with due respect to mr. beckett, who has no investment in this comment except to be a foil for an amusement in my head, which leaves me with this next thought-provoking question i will leave unanswered, just cuz i can...

if a body dropped from a plane landed on my head, would god have dropped the body and if so, would it have been dropped randomly or on purpose?...

and there we see the danger, or several of them at least, of staying awake all night watching movies and browsing the internet...

let this be a lesson for us all...
